Digital Orthographic Quarter-Quads combine the characteristics of an aerial photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. Essentially, the photograph is georeferenced and orthorectified, meaning distortions caused by the point of view of the camera are removed (features of higher elevations being at higher detail, oblique angles toward objects not directly in front of the lens).
